Sweetwater Wetlands Park; Gainseville parks; Alachua County parks

Walk Trails

Take a scenic walk on the park's 3.5-mile-long nature trail, that is a combination of crushed gravel and boardwalks, where you can see more hundreds of acres of ponds and wetlands.

Bring lunch with your family and friends and have a picnic in the park.

View Wildlife

Go to the viewing decks to observe Sweetwater's diverse wildlife, including alligators, Florida cracker horses, bison and more than 255 bird species. Sweetwater has quickly become one of the region's best birding sites -- view the park's bird list here!  On eBird.org please use Sweetwater Wetlands Park hotspot. Also available a mobile-friendly Birds of Sweetwater Wetlands Park slide presentation.

Also, while in the park, look for signs that explain the birds and butterflies that can be seen in different seasons.
